In the early hours of August 26, 2025, a tragic incident occurred in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. A resident of Herne, aged 47, was seriously injured while riding an e-scooter in the Schalke-Nord area.

As a tram heading towards the city center could not avoid the incident, it struck the e-scooter. The tram driver, aged 46, was unable to stop the tram in time.
