In the small village of Trás-Âncora, situated in S. Lourenço da Montaria, Viana do Castelo, a heartbreaking incident occurred. According to reports from News Journal, an 18-month-old baby passed away due to a fatal accident.
The family, who have been residing in Portugal for approximately one year, are of French origin. The exact cause of the accident remains unclear, but it is known that the death was a result of a "game between siblings."
The tragic event was declared at the scene by the VMER team of Alto Minho. The source from the GNR revealed marks of a rope on the neck, leading to the conclusion that the cause of death was asphyxiation.
The child was discovered in cardiopulmonary arrest. The family's name, out of respect for their privacy, has not been disclosed publicly.
Authorities have taken immediate action, with the incident being reported to the Commission for the Protection of Children and Youth (CPCJ).
