The city administration, under the guidance of Mayor Helen Cammerzell, has established a dedicated team known as "Climate City." This team, operating within the department of Technical Deputy Klaus Müller, has been tasked with coordinating measures towards climate neutrality by 2024.

At the helm of the "Climate City" team is Sebastian Mika, who has been assigned to the city with a half-time position. His thematic area revolves around the integration of water in the city's climate-resilient development. One of Rammert-Bentlage's plans includes establishing an electrolyzer for hydrogen production in Bottrop. However, public participation is crucial for the heat planning, according to Rammert-Bentlage.
