Inherited Text: POL-HL: Fehmarn/Ostholstein Man breaks into pigsty and triggers large operation
On Thursday afternoon (04.09.2025), a man with a box cutter was spotted on an agricultural operation's property near Petersdorf, Fehmarn. The incident, which unfolded in the afternoon, saw a series of events involving multiple law enforcement agencies.
The man, identified as a 36-year-old German, was initially assessed to be in a state of mental distress. He was first seen hiding in the reeds near a ditch. The owner of the agricultural operation noticed the man with a knife in the barn, prompting immediate action.
Employees of the operation followed the man in a vehicle to guide the police. The operation involved the Federal Police, Ready Police in Eutin, Fehmarn, Großenbrode, Heiligenhafen, Water Police, and the Police Highway and District Office Scharbeutz. Additional police forces, including federal police and technical support from the ready police, were called in during the pursuit.
When the police arrived, the man approached them in a threatening manner. In response, the police fired a warning shot. The man then fled on foot, leading to a pursuit that ended near the village of Wallnau, where he was eventually apprehended.
The suspect was taken to a hospital for further treatment. The police have initiated proceedings on suspicion of threat and trespassing. There is no information in the search results about this specific incident and the man's subsequent arrest on September 4, 2025.
