Injury Update on Sabrina Ionescu's Return: Sandy Brondello Dishes Out Details on Liberty Guard's Recovery
New York Liberty's Sabrina Ionescu Dealing with Ankle Injury
Sabrina Ionescu of the New York Liberty is dealing with an ankle injury, which she sustained during a game against the Chicago Sky last week. The injury was confirmed during the game on Thursday, and Ionescu was listed as questionable for the Liberty's game against the Dream due to a left foot injury.
Despite the injury, Ionescu managed to score 16 points with two assists and one rebound in the game against the Sky. However, she was unable to play in the Liberty's game against the Atlanta Dream on Saturday due to a swollen ankle.
Coach Sandy Brondello confirmed that Ionescu avoided a major injury, but no new information has been released about the severity of her injury or her potential return. Brondello also expressed hope that Ionescu, along with Izzy Harrison and Breanna Stewart, will all be able to play during the next week.
The absence of Ionescu, Harrison, and Stewart was more prominent in the game against the Atlanta Dream, as the Liberty lost to the Dream 85-91. The Liberty trained into the fourth quarter but were unable to secure a win.
The Liberty's next game is against the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday, August 26. Meanwhile, Nyara Sabally is being built up to play by the end of the regular season, but no new information has been released about her progress.
In addition to Ionescu's injury, no other players or teams were mentioned in the recent games. The Liberty's loss to the Chicago Sky on Thursday potentially contributed to their current standing in the league.
Brondello remains optimistic about Ionescu's return and is hoping for a swift recovery. Fans will be eagerly waiting to see Ionescu back on the court, contributing to the team's success.
