Cologne Police Seek Suspect in Taxi Driver Attack

In a troubling incident that took place on Saturday night, April 27, 2025, a 79-year-old taxi driver was assaulted in Cologne city center. The police are now searching for the suspect, who is believed to have used pepper spray during the attack and stolen the victim's wallet.

The altercation occurred around 11:30 PM on the "In der Burgmauer" street. The suspect, described as a 35-year-old man, stood at approximately 1.80 meters tall and had a distinctive appearance, with a mustache and an unkempt look. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie with an orange hood and a dark jacket.

The suspect initially requested a ride from Bergisch Gladbach to Appellhofplatz in Cologne. However, the situation took a turn for the worse during the journey, leading to the assault on the taxi driver.

The Criminal Commission 14 is asking for any information about the incident, the suspect's identity, and/or whereabouts. The Cologne Police have provided a contact number (0221 229-0) and an email address ([email protected]) for the public to share any relevant details.
