Inspection of substantial scale: One out of every three vehicles found to be defective

In a significant operation, the police, along with forces from the Hessian Police Headquarters, the Federal Office for Logistics and Mobility (BALM), and the customs office, conducted a large-scale inspection of 71 heavy goods vehicles at the Weiskirchen Nord service station on the A3 motorway.

The main focus of the inspection was issues with load securing, which was evaluated as a serious problem. Unfortunately, approximately 35% of the vehicles inspected were found to have defects in this area. Corresponding back payments were made for tax evasion related to the smuggling cases, where six instances of smuggling were found, with cigarettes seized and a vehicle fueled with heating oil discovered.

Other violations included a violation of the driving and resting time regulations, as the driver's card was not inserted in one 40-tonner. One driver was found to be operating without a valid driver's license. Two cases of license plate misuse were discovered, involving illegal foreign registrations.

The inspection also uncovered two violations of the Weapons Act, with a switchblade and a brass knuckles seized. Fines, security deposits, and back payments from the inspection amounted to around 30,000 euros.

The search results do not contain information about who conducted the inspection of heavy trucks at the Weiskirchen Nord service station on Thursday. However, the results showed that the operation was successful in identifying and addressing numerous issues in heavy goods traffic.

In response to these findings, further controls to monitor heavy goods traffic are already planned to ensure compliance with regulations and maintain the safety of the roads. The police and their partners remain committed to maintaining the integrity of the transportation system and protecting the public.
