International Alliance, Comprising India, Israel, UAE, and the United States, Announced for First Meeting Next Month
In July, President Joe Biden is embarking on a trip to the Middle East region, scheduled from the 13th to the 16th. This journey forms part of a series of international interactions at a critical juncture, as stated by an official.
The primary objective of the trip is to hold a summit, where discussions will centre around food security and other areas of cooperation. The nations involved are technological powerhouses, with India serving as a significant consumer market and a major manufacturer of advanced products.
Notably, President Biden's visit to Israel will mark nearly half a century since his first visit to the country as a young legislator. Strengthening trade and financial ties between Israel and the UAE is a priority for the Biden administration, given the growing rapport between the two countries, particularly in the economic sphere.
The I2U2 grouping, comprising India, Israel, the UAE, and the US, will convene for its first virtual summit next month. The official believes that this trip signifies the resurgence of American leadership to bring nations together to confront common threats and challenges.
Beyond the Middle East, these partnerships are considered crucial to the strategy of empowering partners and encouraging them to work more closely together. The official stated that some of these new partnerships extend beyond the region, and a virtual summit with the I2U2 heads of state will be held to discuss the food security situation and other areas of cooperation across hemispheres.
The countries participating in the first virtual I2U2 conference include India, Israel, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States. The official also mentioned that the trip will focus on Israel's increasing integration into the region, including through the Abraham Accords with the UAE, Morocco, and Bahrain.
President Biden, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Israeli Prime Minister Neftali Bennett, and UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan will be in attendance at the summit. The tour will also include stops in Israel, the West Bank, and Saudi Arabia, with interactions scheduled with nearly a dozen leaders from across the region and beyond.
The summit offers an opportunity for these nations to collaborate in various sectors, such as technology, trade, climate, COVID-19, and potentially even security. The UAE and Israel are seen as important technology hubs in these discussions. The summit is part of the Biden administration's efforts to re-energize and revitalize American partnerships worldwide.
