International Demand for Turkish-Produced Hot Air Balloons Soars, Receiving Orders from 11 Nations
In a significant development for Turkey's aviation industry, the Transport and Infrastructure Minister, Abdulkadir Uraloglu, announced that orders for Turkish hot air balloons have been placed from 11 countries this year. A total of 42 balloons have been exported to these countries, with Egypt accounting for the largest share with 23 balloons.
The minister highlighted that these exports have strengthened Turkey's tourism and its position as an exporter in the aviation sector. The success of Turkish hot air balloons in various regions worldwide has brought international attention to Turkey's aviation industry.
The first export of Turkish hot air balloons occurred in 2020 to Rwanda, marking the first time a Turkish civilian aircraft was sold abroad. Since then, the countries that have received these balloons include Rwanda, Ghana, Egypt, Azerbaijan, Qatar, Oman, Tanzania, South Korea, Japan, Mexico, and Jordan. The number of countries that have received Turkish hot air balloons now stands at 12, with the latest orders coming from 11 countries this year.
The balloons, now flying in various regions worldwide, carry thousands of tourists over Cappadocia daily. Turkish-made hot air balloons have received type certification in 2019, making them the second civilian aircraft in Turkey to receive such a certificate. This achievement signifies compliance with international safety and quality standards.
The export of Turkish hot air balloons to multiple countries has contributed to Turkey's economic growth and global presence in the aviation sector. Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) delivered the first export model of a Turkish civil aircraft to Rwanda in 2020, which was a significant milestone in Turkey's aviation history.
The continued growth in orders for Turkish hot air balloons indicates a positive trend for the country's aviation industry. This achievement is a tangible example of Turkey's aviation vision, and it is expected that Turkey will continue to make strides in the global aviation market.
