International fugitive female detained by federal police at Cologne/Bonn airport, under the jurisdiction of BPOL NRW
In a significant development in international cooperation against cross-border crime, a 32-year-old Iraqi woman from Belgium was arrested at Cologne/Bonn Airport on August 28, 2025.
The arrest occurred during departure control for a flight to Istanbul-Sabiha GΓΆkcen. The federal police found an international arrest warrant during the inspection of her travel documents. The warrant was issued by the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) based on an extradition request from the United States of America (USA).
The extradition request was for charges related to money laundering and concealing illegally obtained assets. After further identity checks, the woman was provisionally arrested and taken to the federal police station.
