Giorgio Armani's Farewell in His Beloved Rivalta

Giorgio Armani, the renowned fashion designer and head of a multi-billion-euro luxury lifestyle business, was laid to rest in Rivalta, Italy, near his birthplace Piacenza. The 14th-century Church of San Martino hosted Armani's private funeral on Monday.

Armani's body was displayed for two days at the Armani group's headquarters in Milan over the weekend, where around 15,000 people paid their respects. The area surrounding the Rivalta church was cordoned off for security reasons and to ensure the privacy of the funeral.

Romina Bozza, a local resident, expressed her feelings about the event, stating that it was moving to know that Armani's life ended where it all began, in the village he loved so much. Local Franca Benedetti met Armani a couple of times at the restaurant he used to frequent. The Antica Locanda del Falco, a local restaurant, recorded fond memories of Armani's visits over the decades.

Armani's understated but exquisitely tailored creations were beloved of Hollywood A-listers. Pantaleo Dell'Orco, head of men's designs at the fashion empire, and Andrea Camerana, Armani's nephew, were among those spotted at the funeral.

Armani was born on July 11, 1934, in Piacenza, Italy. He was glad that he is resting in Rivalta, where all his loved ones are. Francesca Piazza, a local beautician, stated that Armani never forgot his roots and his village.

The funeral ceremony took place in the village where Armani's parents are buried. Armani's remains will be buried in the family chapel in Rivalta, already housing his mother Maria, father Ugo, and brother Sergio. Local residents lined up to see the hearse arrive, and it was always exciting for them to meet Armani, who is considered the great man from Piacenza in the world.

Armani shops closed on Monday afternoon as a sign of respect for the designer. Bozza added that it was moving to see the village come together to honour their beloved son. Armani was a regular in Rivalta, and he expressed his happiness that he is resting in the place he loved so much.

Giorgio Armani's burial will take place in Rivalta, with only about 20 close relatives, friends, and colleagues attending. It was a fitting farewell for a man who left an indelible mark on the fashion world and in the hearts of the people of Rivalta.
