New Tesla Model Y Performance Unveiled in Europe

The Tesla brand has announced the arrival of its latest offering, the Model Y Performance, in the Australian market before the end of 2026. The new Model Y Performance is set to make its debut in Europe this September.

The new Model Y Performance boasts a more aerodynamically efficient design, featuring a sleek front bumper, a diffuser-style rear bumper, a carbon-fibre rear wing, and red brake callipers. The vehicle also comes equipped with multi-link suspension hardware and staggered 21-inch Arachnid 2.0 wheels, shod with Pirelli tyres.

The new Model Y Performance, built at Tesla's Brandenburg factory in Germany, has a total length of 4796mm and a width of 1982mm. The height of the new Performance model stands at 1611mm, while the front and rear tracks measure 1646mm and 1622mm respectively.

The new Model Y Performance maintains the same dual motor all-wheel drive 343kW powertrain as the Model 3 Performance, enabling it to accelerate from 0-100km/h in a claimed 3.5 seconds – a 0.2-second improvement over the old car. The vehicle also retains a top speed of 250km/h.

The new Model Y Performance employs a new type of high-voltage battery cell, which extends its claimed range to 580km (WLTP). The vehicle's energy consumption rate is declared at 16.2kWh/100km.

The new Model Y Performance also boasts an impressive charging capability. With a 250kW maximum DC charge rate, it can add a claimed 243km of range in just 15 minutes.

In terms of luggage capacity, the new Model Y Performance offers 2138 litres. The vehicle's weight has also increased slightly, with the new Model Y Performance weighing 2033kg, compared to the old model's 1997kg.

The production of the new Model Y Performance for the Chinese market will be handled by Tesla's own factory in Shanghai. There is no indication that a third-party company will take over production; rather, Tesla manufactures these vehicles at its Shanghai Gigafactory.

Deliveries of the new Model Y Performance begin in Europe in September, with the vehicle starting at 61,990 Euros in Germany. The Model Y Performance based on the Juniper refresh has been revealed in Europe, signalling the start of an exciting new chapter for Tesla's popular SUV.
