In the world of automotive innovation, Geely is set to make a significant mark at the Beijing Auto Show in April 2010. The Chinese automaker is planning to introduce a new taxi model, the TXN, at the event.

While details about the TXN's interior design are now public, it's worth noting that it differs from the rendered exterior pictures that have been circulating. This new taxi model, however, will not be the focus of this article.

Geely's foray into the taxi industry is not entirely new. The London Taxi, a legendary vehicle, is also produced in China under the Englon name (formerly Shanghai Maple Auto). Interestingly, Geely is expected to control Manganese Bronze, the manufacturer of the iconic London Taxi, as well.

In a move that signals Geely's commitment to electric vehicles (EVs), the company has also unveiled official images of the Galaxy's 4.8-meter Starshine 6 PHEV sedan. Meanwhile, Geely is planning to launch a new EV city car, Smart #2, in collaboration with Mercedes, in China, in late 2026.

It's worth mentioning that Geely has expressed its belief that the current London Taxi design has outlived its usefulness. However, the company has not revealed any plans regarding the production of the London Taxi in China under the Englon name or the introduction of a new taxi model in the future.

The Beijing Auto Show, held in 2010, has been a platform for Geely to showcase its innovations. This year, in addition to the TXN, the company is also expected to reveal the interior design of the Zeekr 9X, an 80,000 USD SUV that boasts the world's largest PHEV battery and a weight of 3 tons.

As the automotive landscape continues to evolve, Geely's moves at the Beijing Auto Show promise to be an exciting development to watch. Stay tuned for more updates!
