New Sail Hatchback to Debut at Beijing Auto Show

The much-anticipated Sail hatchback is set to make its debut at the Beijing Auto Show at the end of this month. This compact vehicle, which shares common engine options with the Sail sedan, has been spotted near the factory in Shanghai before its official unveiling.

The Sail hatchback will feature the same engines as the sedan version, which includes a 1.6, a 1.4, and a 1.2. These powertrains are expected to deliver the same fuel efficiency and performance as the sedan, making the hatchback a promising addition to the Sail family.

Interestingly, the Sail hatchback will enter the market after the sedan version, which was introduced last year. Although the design of the Sail sedan has not been a major selling point, being described as conservative and slightly boring, the hatchback's design is also reported to be unimpressive.

Despite the design concerns, the Sail hatchback is expected to be more affordable than the sedan. The price of the hatchback has not been officially announced yet, but it is expected to be several thousand RMB below the sedan, which currently ranges from 52,500 to 107,900 RMB.

Unfortunately, the search results do not provide specific information about the chief designer responsible for the development of the Sail Hatchback by SAIC-GM. Nonetheless, the debut of the Sail hatchback at the Beijing Auto Show is an exciting event for car enthusiasts and the automotive industry alike. Stay tuned for more updates on this intriguing new vehicle.
