In a dramatic turn of events, the Labour Party's Publicity Secretary, Arabambi Abayomi, has issued an open letter to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to take action against Peter Obi and his allies, Aisha Yesufu and Serah Ibrahim.

According to the letter, Abayomi accuses these individuals of making inflammatory statements that undermine the legitimacy of Tinubu's government and engage in unchecked libel, referring to the President in derogatory terms. The letter argues that this behaviour erodes the sanctity of national institutions and the dignity of the Presidency.

Abayomi contends that the open letter serves to demonstrate that no individual, regardless of their political status, is above the law in Nigeria. He calls for the arrest, investigation, and prosecution of Peter Obi, Aisha Yesufu, and Serah Ibrahim for alleged roles in inciting treasonable felony, cyberstalking, and cyberbullying.

The letter also addresses the matter as one that strikes at the very heart of democracy, the rule of law, and the dignity of the Presidency of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Abayomi argues that it is time to end the era of impunity and restore respect for the nation's leadership and institutions.

To further press his case, Abayomi has put his legal team on notice to file a Mandamus suit at the Federal High Court in Abuja to compel Tinubu to direct relevant agencies to investigate the trio. The suit seeks to compel Tinubu, as the President and Chief Security Officer of the nation, to direct the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Attorney-General of the Federation to perform their constitutional duty.

Notably, this call for action comes after Peter Obi held a press conference in Abuja on October 11, 2023, where he challenged Tinubu's identity, parentage, and academic credentials. Additionally, Peter Obi demanded a retraction and apology from Deji Adeyanju for statements deemed defamatory, made on August 21, 2025, in a seven-day pre-action letter of demand.

The open letter from Abayomi also states that Tinubu must ensure the same laws that protect Peter Obi from defamation are applied equally to hold him and his associates accountable for their statements. This call for justice has sparked a heated debate, with many questioning the balance of power and the rule of law in Nigeria's political landscape.

As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how President Tinubu will respond to Abayomi's demands and whether this call for accountability will lead to a new era of transparency and justice in Nigeria's political sphere.
