Investigation underway after railway accident in Bremen; train services temporarily limited
In the Burglesum district of Bremen, a tragic incident occurred on Tuesday morning when a 19-year-old driver collided with a regional train. The collision took place at a signalized railway crossing.
According to a spokesperson for Deutsche Bahn, the regional express trains on lines RE8 and RE9 from Hannover and OsnabrΓΌck will continue to end at Bremen Central Station. The RS2 line, which also uses this crossing, will be served at least hourly. However, the shuttle bus service between Bremen-Burg and Bremen Central Station has been discontinued.
The section between Bremen-Burg and Bremen is still only partially usable on Wednesday, but train services between the Hanseatic city and Bremerhaven have resumed.
Investigators are working diligently to determine the cause of the accident. As of Wednesday afternoon, there are no new findings. They are also checking whether the barrier was open at the time of the collision. It is not known when the second track will be available, allowing all trains to run regularly.
Despite the unfortunate incident, approximately 150 passengers on the train were unharmed. The regional S-Bahn is now operating on the entire route.
The investigations regarding the accident are ongoing, and as of midday on Wednesday, there are no search results providing information about the current status of the investigation. The public is urged to stay informed through official channels for the latest updates.
