Headline: Pride of Arras Roars Back to Top Tier After Voltigeur Stakes Victory

In a thrilling turn of events at York Racecourse, Pride of Arras, under the skilled ride of Rossa Ryan, clinched the Group Two Voltigeur Stakes. The victory has secured the horse's return to the top tier, following a temporary form slump.

Ryan, the winning jockey, believes that gelding Pride of Arras was the right call, as it appears to have transformed the horse's performance. The English horse trainer, Ralph Beckett, who trained Pride of Arras, is known for his success in the United Kingdom.

Meanwhile, Pride of Arras's victory has ruled him out of running in the oldest classic, the English St Leger at Doncaster in September. The horse had been well-fancied for Epsom, but finished well behind Ryan Moore and Lambourn in both the Epsom and Irish Derby races.

Elsewhere, Gewan, owned by Dubai's Godolphin Operation, triumphed in the Group Three Acomb Stakes. Despite falling asleep an hour before the race, Gewan, under jockey PJ McDonald, managed to secure the win. McDonald, who has had 17 winners in 55 rides for trainer Andrew Balding, steered Gewan to victory, earning the horse a 16/1 quote for next year's English 2000 Guineas.

The Sussex Stakes at Goodwood saw a close race, with Ombudsman emerging as the winner. William Buick, who dedicated his victory to a close friend who recently passed away, rode Ombudsman to a narrow victory over second favorite Delacroix. Birr Castle, sent over from France by trainer Andre Fabre, finished third, earning a cheque of £141,000 ($190,000).

Unfortunately, Distant Storm, costing 1.9 million euros, failed to sparkle in the Group Three Acomb Stakes, finishing third. The Japanese runner Danon Decile, who was third favorite for the Sussex Stakes, finished second last, failing to justify his tag.

Rossa Ryan, reflecting on Pride of Arras's performance, stated that while the horse's form is temporary, his class is permanent. This sentiment was echoed by the horse's trainer, Ralph Beckett, who is known for his success in the racing industry.

In conclusion, York Racecourse witnessed an exciting day of racing, with Pride of Arras's victory in the Voltigeur Stakes being the highlight. The horse's return to the top tier is a testament to the power of determination and the unpredictability of the racing world.
