Isar Island Festival in Munich: Diverse Programming and Transport Disruptions
The much-anticipated Isar Island Festival is set to take place in Munich from Friday, September 5th to Sunday, September 7th, 2025. This street party along the Isar riverbank will offer a wide range of programs, including concerts, art, and culture.
The festival will be held on Steinsdorfstraße, between the Maximilian and Ludwig bridges. However, bus 132 will not stop at the Ludwigsbrücke stop due to festival-related closures and reroutes. The nearest bus stop to the festival is Zweibruckenstraße.
Access to the festival is free, and visitors can reach the event via public transportation. Trams can be taken to Mariannenplatz and Maxmonument stops. The SEV16 bus, meanwhile, will be rerouted via the old town ring and will not serve the Lehel and Mariannenplatz stops.
The Isar Island Festival will feature four stages for music, including a "Latin corner" on the Prater Island and music at the cultural beach under the Ludwig Bridge. Dance courses, such as Zumba and Bachata, will also be offered.
In addition to music and dance, the festival will include shows, food trucks, and information stands where associations and initiatives will present themselves. Children's entertainment, appearances by a fortune teller, and a church service at St. Lukas' portal are also planned.
The event is organized by the Isar Island Festival Association, a non-profit organisation with AWO Munich-City and SPD Munich as founders. Parking for bicycles is available at the festival, but not for cars as it takes place in a protected natural area.
