Islamism undergoing transformations in scenes, structures, and countermeasures?
The Task Force Islamism Prevention (TAFIP) of the German Federal Ministry of the Interior, in collaboration with the University of Osnabrück, the Federal Agency for Civic Education, and Ufuq e.V., is set to host a series of webinars from February to June 2025. The series aims to delve into the complexities of extremist and violent Islamism, the current protest situation, the role of antisemitism in radicalization processes, transnational connections, radicalization backgrounds, media role, agitators, digital developments, and gaming spaces.
The series kicks off on February 25, 2025, with the webinar titled "The Return of Islamic Actors to the Streets." This will be followed by "Loneliness as a Radicalization Factor?" on May 13, 2025, and "The New Face: About Islamic Influencers and Gender-Specific Prevention" on May 27, 2025. Other topics in the series include "Masculinity and Radicalization: Conclusions for Gender-Reflective Pedagogy and Prevention" on June 3, 2025, and "Individual and Collective Discrimination Experiences as a Factor in Islamic Radicalization?" on May 20, 2025.
The series will also cover "Emotional Transnationality and Global Conflicts" on April 1, 2025, "Anti-Semitism, Protest, and Propaganda" on March 11, 2025, and "Lost Trust and Instrumentalization" on March 25, 2025. The final webinar in the series, "Islamism on Social Media Platforms and in Gaming Worlds," is scheduled for April 29, 2025.

In recent news, the Islamic Hamas carried out a terrorist attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, which has led to a significant increase in pro-Palestinian demonstrations. Some of these demonstrations have featured Islamic actors spreading anti-Semitic narratives. The webinar series discusses ways to counter extremist ideologies and create constructive alternatives.
The series takes place on Tuesdays from 16:00 - 17:30 via Zoom. The program for the entire series is available for download as a PDF. Join the discussion and contribute to a better understanding of these critical issues.
