In a significant development, at least 10 airstrikes were carried out by the Israeli army on multiple locations in Yemen, including the capital Sana'a, on late August 2025. The Israeli Broadcasting Authority confirmed that the strikes aimed at top Houthi figures.

According to multiple reports, the operation involved both the Israeli Air Force and Navy, and the targeted site was believed to be occupied by several Houthi leaders. The Israeli army's intentions were reportedly to eliminate high-ranking Huthi leaders, including the Huthi-backed Prime Minister Ahmed al-Rahawi, the Defense Minister, and the Chief of Staff, many of whom were killed or wounded. However, there is no confirmation yet on whether the assassination attempts were successful.

The Israeli operations were planned earlier in the week as part of a broader campaign, and the strikes were approved by Defense Minister Katz, Chief of Staff Zamir, and the army's leadership. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was briefed via a secure red line.
