Israel Insists on France Altering Its Current Path Prior to Macron's Visit

Israel has declined a potential visit by French President Emmanuel Macron, citing France's planned recognition of a Palestinian state as the primary reason for the decision.

According to reports, Gideon Saar, Israel's Foreign Minister, spoke with Jean-Noël Barrot, his French counterpart, about the matter. Saar expressed concerns that France's recognition of a Palestinian state would harm Israel's national and security interests.

The Israeli government, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, sharply condemned France's plan to recognize a Palestinian state. Saar stated that France's initiative undermines stability in the Middle East.

In July, Macron announced France's intention to recognize a Palestinian state. This announcement came before the French government's official declaration at the UN General Assembly. However, no official plans for a potential Macron visit to Israel were known at the time of the conversation.

Saar informed Barrot that he sees "no room" for Macron's visit while France maintains its push for recognizing a Palestinian state. Saar accused France of taking a series of anti-Israel steps and positions recently.

Several countries, including France, Canada, and Australia, plan to recognize a Palestinian state in September. It remains to be seen how these developments will affect the diplomatic relations between these nations and Israel.

As the situation unfolds, both parties are urged to engage in constructive dialogue to ensure a peaceful resolution and maintain stability in the region.
