Jets from the military have been launched from Poland as Russia carries out attacks near the shared border.

In a troubling turn of events, the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia has escalated, with both nations engaging in aerial attacks and targeting oil refineries.

Reports from local authorities in the Sumy region confirm one death due to a Russian attack. Elsewhere, a nine-year-old child was injured in an attack on the outskirts of the village of Putywyl. These incidents add to the mounting tension in the region.

One of the processing plants in an undisclosed location caught fire but was quickly extinguished, avoiding further damage. The attack on the oil refinery in Kirishi, Russia, has been confirmed by both Ukrainian military and Russian officials. The Ukrainian government stated that the attack was aimed at Russia's oil industry, which they claim finances Putin's war.

In response, Russia has been launching air strikes on western Ukraine, prompting Poland to deploy military jets and activate ground-based air defense systems. The Ukrainian air force has been actively warning of Russian missile and drone attacks.

Recent weeks have seen Ukraine attacking major oil refineries, causing fuel shortages in parts of Russia and Russian-occupied Ukrainian territories. Long lines have formed at gas stations as a result, disrupting daily life.

Russian Telegram channels reported Ukrainian drone attacks on the Ilsky oil refinery in the Krasnodar region. Meanwhile, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported fires in several residential buildings, raising concerns for civilian safety.

Oleh Grygorow, the regional military governor, confirmed these reports on Telegram, and media reports indicate that the regions of Dnipropetrovsk and Odessa are also under fire. Air raid alerts sounded across almost the entire Ukraine, heightening anxiety among its citizens.

Amidst this chaos, an unnamed expert, Jaeger, finds it surprising that the Kremlin tolerates Ukraine's EU accession, given the escalating conflict. It remains to be seen how this situation will unfold in the coming days.

In a positive note, no injuries were reported at the processing plant fire, and the staff was evacuated to safety. However, the overall situation remains precarious, with both sides showing no signs of backing down.
