Job Dissatisfaction Survey Reveals: Nearly Half of Respondents Express Dislike for Their Workplace
In a recent survey conducted by polling institute Appinio on behalf of job portal Indeed, it has been revealed that job dissatisfaction is a significant issue among employees in Germany. The survey, which was carried out between August 11 and 12, 2025, involved 1,000 working people aged 18 to 67.
The findings suggest that nearly half (43.8%) of employees often feel dissatisfied with their jobs. Among those who express such dissatisfaction, more than half (58 percent) use calling in sick as an opportunity for a personal break, at least occasionally.
The survey also revealed that approximately 14.7% of employees feel dissatisfied with their jobs almost daily. Interestingly, among employees who hate their jobs, 88% often think about changing jobs. This strong correlation between job dissatisfaction and the frequency of job change thoughts is one of the key findings of the survey.
Intriguingly, among all respondents, about half (51%) think about a job change at least occasionally. Furthermore, approximately 40 percent of all respondents admitted to calling in sick occasionally, even when they're feeling well.
It's worth noting that the survey did not specify the number of total respondents, nor did it provide information on the reasons for job dissatisfaction among the respondents. Additionally, the survey did not provide information on the industries or professions of the respondents.
A separate survey on work satisfaction in Germany in 2025 was conducted by "infratest dimap" for the ARD-Deutschlandtrend. However, the details of this survey were not disclosed in the report.
In conclusion, the survey conducted by Appinio reveals a concerning level of job dissatisfaction among employees in Germany. The findings suggest a need for employers to address this issue and explore ways to improve job satisfaction for their employees.
