Julie Andrews Wins an Emmy for Providing the Voice of Bridgerton's Lady Whistledown
In a surprising turn of events at the 76th Creative Arts Emmy Awards held on September 6, 2025, in Los Angeles, USA, Julie Andrews was awarded the Emmy for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance for her role as Lady Whistledown in the popular period drama, Bridgerton.
Despite not being present at the ceremony, presenter Craig Robinson accepted the award on Andrews' behalf. The actress, who has been nominated for the same category for her work as Lady Whistledown in 2021, 2022, and 2023, had her first win this year.
Bridgerton, created by Chris Van Dusen and produced by Shonda Rhimes, premiered in 2020 and has redefined period drama. The show explores the varied romances in British high society and is based on the book series of the same name by Julia Quinn.
Andrews records her voice-over for Bridgerton separately from the rest of the cast, and to date, she has not met any of the other actors in the show in person. However, she has praised Bridgerton, stating it is "gorgeous looking" and the cast is "wonderful" and "lovely to work with".

Interestingly, Andrews won for her voice-over performance in the Bridgerton episode titled, Into the Light.
