The commission, coordinated by the Kamchatka Territorial Directorate of Fisheries, is responsible for setting quotas for commercial, recreational, and traditional indigenous fishing of anadromous fish species. One of the key decisions made at the meeting was the allocation of approximately 1,600 tons of aquatic biological resources for traditional fishing by indigenous peoples.
A significant part of the discussion focused on setting regulations for the catch, season, and transit days of anadromous fish species in Kamchatka. The commission also determined the start and end dates of the fishing season for these species.
The meeting also addressed the prohibition on specialized net fishing for smelt and grayling in specific areas. These prohibition areas include Avachinsky Bay, several lakes, and several rivers, such as Paratunka, Avacha, and Bolshaya rivers. The prohibition is based on scientific recommendations to reduce fishing pressure and is not applicable to all fishing methods.
