On September 24, 2025, the city library in Marl will host a special event featuring authors Katja Lund and Markus Stephan. The duo, known for their successful series of thrillers set on the North Sea, will be reading from their latest book, "Wattenmeerblut".

"Wattenmeerblut" is the fourth instalment in the series, following "Wattenmeermord", "Wattenmeerfeuer", and "Wattenmeergrab". This latest thriller is set on the North Sea island of Pellworm, where Markus Stephan and his wife reside.

The event will start at 7:30 PM, with doors opening at 7 PM. Tickets for the event can be purchased in advance at the city library, the I-Point, and at the box office. Admission costs 5 Euros.

For those who cannot attend in person, the event will be a hybrid one, with Markus Stephan joining via screen and projector. Katja Lund will be present on site, signing books upon request at a bookstand following the reading.

Markus Stephan, a former NRW police officer, started his career in 1996 and later transferred to the Schleswig-Holstein police in 2017. He met Katja Lund when she was vacationing on Pellworm.

The story of "Wattenmeerblut" begins with the character Tamme Hansen discovering the body of old Meike Lorenzen impaled on an agricultural pitchfork in her shed. The mysterious key leads island policeman Jan Benden to a wreckage of an English plane that crashed over the mudflats during World War II.

The authors will read from their book in a role swap, with humor, and will be available to answer questions from the audience after their reading. For more information, please call 02365/99-4200.
