In a thrilling game at Julian R. Yates Field in Kealakekua, the Konawaena High School Wildcats emerged victorious against the Hilo High School Vikings with a score of 35-10.

The Wildcats' offense showed a strong performance, with Kainalu Alves, a junior running back, scoring a rushing touchdown in the third quarter. Alves finished the game with 93 rushing yards.

Keenan Alani, the All-BIIF quarterback, returned to the field after missing a game due to a shoulder injury. In limited snaps, Alani threw for 215 passing yards and four touchdown passes. One of these touchdowns was caught by Taetuna-Fautanu, who finished the game with one receiving touchdown.

The Wildcats' receiving corps also had a standout performance. Kaiea Thomas, a receiver for Konawaena, finished the night with five receptions for 115 yards.

The Konawaena defense also shone, recording 3.0 sacks in the game. The defensive line, led by Zane Fujihara-Fa'avesi, Thor Brown, Judah Caraballo, Chevy Flanary, and Sheynen Iona, consistently broke through Hilo's line.

Flanary made a significant impact in the fourth quarter, blocking Hilo's punt.

Hilo was shut out in the second half, dropping their second straight game and falling to 2-3. Alelauloa Torres scored a touchdown for Hilo in the first half.

The victory improves Konawaena's record to 2-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play. The Wildcats will face another challenge next Friday evening, as they take on the Hilo High School football team once again at Julian R. Yates Field.

Before that, Konawaena will face a Division II opponent, Honoka'a, next week at Julian R. Yates Field. Honoka'a is currently 2-1 overall and 2-0 in BIIF play this season.

The Wildcats will look to continue their winning streak and solidify their position in the conference. The rematch against Hilo promises to be an exciting contest, with both teams eager to claim victory.
