Kids' Drama: The Young Performance featuring The Little Prince and The Crow
In the heart of a bustling German city, decorated for Christmas, a timeless story unfolds at the Young Theatre on MĂŒnsterstraĂe 446. Martin Baltscheit's book, a continuation of Antoine de Saint-ExupĂ©ry's beloved myth "The Little Prince," is brought to life on stage.
The Little Prince, burdened by sorrow and guilt, returns to Earth in the 21st century, landing in an inner-city bakery's wintery backyard. The decorated tree, Antoine, and the fisherwoman are among the characters that populate this modern setting.
The performance, directed by Frank Hörner and designed by Stefanie Stuhldreier, leads Saint-Exupéry's hymn to a naive view of the world into the present. The Little Prince embarks on a search for his old friend, a journey that takes him through the city's streets, encountering various characters along the way.
Selin Dörtkarde, Natalie Hanslik, and Eduard Lind play the roles of the fisherwoman, while the baker, Santa Claus, sheep, Christkind, secretary, policewoman, and psychologist are portrayed by child and youth actors whose names are not currently available. The cast also includes storytellers, a band, garbage men, and a Christmas man, all contributing to a strong narrative about growing up.
Baltscheit's book promises to answer unanswered questions from his original work with much imagination. It is described as a humanistic manifesto and an alternative to the real world, offering a message of hope and friendship in a self-centered society. The Christ Child, lying in a church in the manger, is the only one who listens to the Little Prince in this production.
The performance is suitable for children and young people aged ten and above. If you're looking for a heartwarming and thought-provoking experience this holiday season, don't miss out on "The Little Prince" at the Young Theatre on MĂŒnsterstraĂe 446.
