Kioxia Provides UFS Version 4.1 Embedded Flash Memory Devices for Automotive Uses
Kioxia Corporation, a world leader in memory solutions, has taken a significant step forward in the automotive industry by introducing new Universal Flash Storage (UFS) Ver. 4.1 embedded memory devices. These innovative devices are designed to cater to the demands of next-generation in-vehicle systems.
The new UFS 4.1 devices are compliant with the UFS 4.1 Specification, which includes WriteBooster related extensions. They are engineered to deliver enhanced performance and reliability, making them ideal for infotainment, Advanced Driving Assistant Systems (ADAS), telematics, domain controllers, and vehicle computers.
Kioxia's UFS 4.1 devices integrate its innovative BiCS FLASHTM 3D flash memory and a controller in a JEDEC-standard package. The devices use generation 8 BiCS FLASHTM 3D flash memory, ensuring high-density storage and exceptional reliability.
Compared to Kioxia's UFS 3.1 generation, the new UFS 4.1 devices deliver approximately 2.1 times sequential read performance, 2.5 times sequential write performance, 2.1 times random read performance, and 3.7 times random write performance. These improvements translate to faster data access and smoother operation of in-vehicle applications.
The new UFS 4.1 devices are available in capacities of 128 gigabytes (GB), 256GB, 512GB, and 1 terabyte (TB). They meet AEC-Q100/104 Grade 2 standards, supporting case temperature up to 115°C, ensuring their durability in harsh automotive environments.
One of the key features of the new UFS 4.1 devices is their enhanced diagnostic capabilities. They come equipped with a new vendor-specific device health descriptor, providing valuable insights into the device's health and enabling proactive maintenance.
Kioxia's commitment to uplifting the world with "memory" is evident in these new UFS 4.1 devices. By offering products, services, and systems that create choice for customers and memory-based value for society, Kioxia is shaping the future of storage in high-density applications like automotive systems.
