Large TVs from TCL and Hisense highlighted, insights from audio experts on hi-fi equipment, JBL amplifier evaluation, and additional features

In the world of technology, there's been a flurry of activity as manufacturers unveil new products and updates. Let's take a look at some of the recent developments in the TV and music streamer markets.

Hisense has made strides in enhancing its TV lineup with upgraded hardware. The new sets boast improved local dimming powers, contrast, and peak brightness levels, making for a more immersive viewing experience. Notably, most of Hisense's new TVs will also offer a 100-inch size option, catering to those who prefer larger screens.

Among the new TVs launched by Hisense are the U6QF, U7QG, U8QG, and U9QG. Additionally, the company has ventured into Mini LED technology, joining the ranks of Samsung, Panasonic, TCL, and Sony, who are the main manufacturers releasing large Mini LED TVs in 2025.

Samsung debuted a 115-inch RGB Mini LED TV called Micro RGB at IFA 2025, while Panasonic announced its Mini LED lineup including an 85-inch model (W95B). TCL presented Mini LED TVs with sizes up to 115 inches at IFA, and Sony demonstrated upcoming RGB LED technology TVs, although launch dates have yet to be confirmed.

Meanwhile, in the realm of music streamers, JBL has released the SA550 Classic, a retro-looking stereo amp inspired by some of JBL's '60s stereo amplifiers. Despite minor shortcomings, such as the lack of a USB input and the use of efficiency-focused class G amplification, the JBL SA550 Classic performed well in testing. The amp features a high-res ESS ES9038K2M DAC chip and Bluetooth wireless connectivity.

However, experts interviewed by Becky Roberts, including representatives from Audiolab, Cambridge Audio, Chord Electronics, Cyrus, dCS, Fell Audio, WiiM, Lenbrook (NAD, Bluesound), and Harman International, emphasized that solid hardware alone isn't enough for a great music streamer. What engineers do with the technology, they said, makes the biggest difference in sound quality.

The JBL SA550 Classic was recently reviewed and generally impressed with its smooth, rich sound and good levels of detail. It was tested with the ATC SCM50 standmounters and received positive feedback.

Interestingly, the TCL C8K, the successor to the C855K, also made an appearance in the interview. The TCL C8K aims to secure a fifth star from reviewers, which its predecessor did not. With technical upgrades, including an increase in peak brightness and improvements to backlight control mechanisms, the TCL C8K is poised to make a strong impression.

It's important to note that this article does not provide any new technical upgrades or product launches related to TVs or music streamers. However, it serves as a snapshot of the current developments in the industry, offering a glimpse into the exciting world of technology.

Lastly, it's worth mentioning that Amazon recently held an early Spring Deal Days sale event, offering discounts on various products. Keep an eye out for more updates as technology continues to evolve!
