In the picturesque town of Port-La Nouvelle, France, the third floating wind turbine for the Eoliennes Flottantes du Golfe du Lion (EFGL) project has been successfully assembled. This marks a significant step forward in the development of France's renewable energy sector.

The EFGL project, a consortium comprising Ocean Winds and the Banque des Territoires, is spearheading the way in offshore wind energy. The project, with a capacity of 10 MW, is being built using Principle Power's WindFloat semi-submersible floating foundation, provided by Vestas.

Last month, the first turbine was installed at the EFGL site, located 16 kilometres off the coast of Leucate and Barcarès. Euroports, a key player in the project, has been overseeing logistics, lifting, and handling operations, ensuring a smooth assembly process.

In March this year, EFGL signed an agreement with Euroports for port services during the construction of the wind farm. This strategic partnership has been instrumental in the progress of the project.

Beyond the EFGL project, Ocean Winds and Banque des Territoires are also partnering on two fixed-bottom projects in France: the 500 MW IĢ‚les d'Yeu and Noirmoutier, and the 500 MW Dieppe Le Tréport. The specific details about these projects, including their locations and any additional parties involved, have not been disclosed at this time.

However, it is known that the pilot wind farm for the IĢ‚les d'Yeu and Noirmoutier project is planned to be completed by the end of August, while the completion date for the Dieppe Le Tréport project remains undisclosed. The first turbine installation for these projects has also not been detailed.

The successful assembly of the third floating wind turbine at Port-La Nouvelle is a testament to the commitment of all parties involved in the EFGL project. With the remaining two turbines set to be installed soon, France is poised to make significant strides in its renewable energy goals.
