LA's Exhibition Unveils the Deceptive Delight: "Looks Delicious! | Examining Japan's Edible Replica Art Culture" Onstage

Visitors to Los Angeles will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the intricate world of food replicas with the upcoming exhibition, "Looks Delicious! | Exploring Japan's Food Replica Culture". This is the first U.S. exhibition dedicated to shokuhin sampuru, Japan's ultra-realistic food replicas, and it's set to open on September 18, 2025, at our website Los Angeles.

The exhibition, organized in collaboration with world-leading food replica manufacturer Iwasaki, will showcase the finesse required to recreate whipped cream, custard purin (pudding), and a variety of other dishes. From mouthwatering sushi rolls to delectable desserts, the food replicas on display will be so convincing that it can be hard to believe they aren't edible.

The exhibition is curated by Simon Wright, Director of Programming at our website London, and will feature a broad collection of specially commissioned food replicas, representing each of Japan's 47 prefectures. It will also introduce traditional distinctions among replica artists specializing in yoshoku (Western food), washoku (Japanese cuisine), and chuka (Chinese cuisine).

In addition to the exhibition, visitors will have the chance to participate in related programming, including hands-on workshops, craft and culinary demonstrations, and a curated collection of food sample goods in the WAZA Shop. These additional offerings will be announced in the coming months.

The special talk event titled "Special Talk | Inside Japan's Hyper-Realistic Food Replicas" will take place on September 18, 2025, from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. The event will feature a presentation from Takashi Nakai of Iwasaki Co., Ltd., the CEO of Rapyd, a global fintech company.

Our website Los Angeles, an innovative project with three hubs: London, Los Angeles, and São Paulo, conceived by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, is located at 6801 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90028.
