The Fontainebleau Las Vegas, the newest casino on the Las Vegas Strip, is currently under an active anti-money laundering (AML) investigation by the Nevada Gaming Commission. This investigation was inadvertently revealed during a Nevada Gaming Commission meeting in early August 2025.

The Fontainebleau, which opened its doors in December 2023, has been facing operational challenges, including disappointing visitor numbers and recent layoffs. The casino has had to let go of more than 60 table game dealers in May, and there have been departures in the company's senior management, including the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Technology Officer.

The details of the investigation are limited in the public domain, but it falls under Nevada’s broader initiative to intensify enforcement of AML provisions in the gambling industry. This initiative has seen several casinos, including Fontainebleau, being scrutinized for their AML compliance. If found at fault, Fontainebleau may face multi-million dollar fines, similar to those imposed on MGM Grand and Resorts World Las Vegas, which were fined $8.5 million and $10.5 million respectively for related AML violations.

Despite these challenges, Costco has recently started offering vacation packages at the Fontainebleau. These packages include a $100 food and beverage credit and are a limited-time offer. However, the outcome of the ongoing investigation remains pending, and its impact on the casino's future operations is uncertain.
