In the historic city of Passau, the main fire station, which was built in 1972 and expanded in 1998, is currently facing space constraints. The fire department and fire service workshop have outgrown their facilities, and efforts are underway to address this issue.

The city council has initiated an examination to explore the possibilities for the main fire station's renewal and partial reconstruction. The site on Leonhard-Paminger-Straße, where the current station is located, has been identified as optimal for the project. However, no specific company or person responsible for the construction has been announced yet, with an expected announcement in the near future.

One of the options being pursued is further development on the existing property. The basement of the current station can be retained after reinforcement of the foundation. This approach would maintain the historical integrity of the site while providing additional space.

In addition, the city council is considering hiring a general contractor or an investor for the project. Once the responsible party is identified, the procurement procedure for the main fire station's construction is expected to begin.

Meanwhile, the city council has been diligently examining the area surrounding the main fire station. Unfortunately, no alternative property within the protection area was found that would be suitable for the main fire station's relocation.

Last year, a total of 21,633 devices were inspected as part of the fire service's routine maintenance. These inspections ensure the safety and efficiency of the equipment used by the fire department. The results of the examination will be presented to the responsible committee as soon as possible.

The city of Passau continues to prioritise the safety and well-being of its residents, and the renewal of the main fire station is a crucial step in maintaining this commitment. As more information becomes available, the city council will keep the public informed about the progress of the project.
