Newly unveiled 20th personal computer equipped with AMD's top-tier 16-core Ryzen AI Max+ 395 APU now available, yet Dell continues to postpone its release.

Latest PC equipped with AMD's top-tier 16-core Ryzen AI-boosted Accelerated Processing Unit, Model 395, has hit the market, yet anticipation lingers as Dell holds back on releasing its version.

The Geekom A9 Mega, a mini PC powered by AMD's Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor, is set to make waves in the tech world. This compact device, boasting a CNC aluminum chassis and dual USB4 ports, promises extensive connectivity and strong cooling.

The A9 Mega stands out with its impressive specifications. It houses two M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSDs for storage and supports up to 128GB memory and 8TB SSD storage for AI workloads. The integrated GPU in the A9 Mega can act as an accelerator with a large shared pool for AI models such as Stable Diffusion or LLaMA.

The Ryzen AI Max+ 395 in the A9 Mega includes Radeon 8080S graphics and an XDNA 2 NPU capable of 126 TOPS, ensuring peak performance for CPU, GPU, and NPU tasks without throttling.

Geekom positions the A9 Mega as an alternative to traditional workstations and Apple's Mac Studio. It is primarily targeted at AI developers, offering up to 96GB usable as GPU memory, making it suitable for AI model workloads rather than just gaming.

The A9 Mega's dimensions are 171x171x71mm, making it a potential option for compact AI workloads and creative use cases. It comes preloaded with Windows 11 Pro and is compatible with Linux.

The front of the A9 Mega features two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C for data, an SD card slot, a power button with integrated fingerprint sensor, and no audio jack. On the back, there are two USB4 Type-C ports supporting 40Gbps with DisplayPort 2.1, two HDMI 2.1 FRL ports, two 2.5Gb Ethernet jacks, one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, one USB 2.0, a 3.5mm headset jack (not present), and DC power input.

Wireless support in the A9 Mega includes Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. Cooling is managed by IceBlast 5.0, featuring dual fans, copper heat pipes, and thermal controls to sustain a 120W TDP.

Backers should be aware that crowdfunding carries risks, and the broader availability of the A9 Mega remains unknown. Geekom often discounts its products shortly after launch, as evidenced by the Geekom A9 Max, which is usually priced at $1,299 but is currently available for $999. However, no information is provided regarding any discounts or the launch price of the A9 Mega after its crowdfunding period.

The A9 Mega is being launched on Kickstarter with a planned starting price around $1,899. This specialized performance and configuration aimed at artificial intelligence applications rather than general users or purely gaming PCs make the A9 Mega an exciting prospect for those in the AI development field.
