Toyota Camry Sprint Edition Launched in India, Aims to Dominate Premium Hybrid Sedan Market

The automotive landscape in India is set to witness an exciting development with the launch of the Toyota Camry Sprint Edition. This premium hybrid sedan, priced at ₹48.5 lakh (ex-showroom, India), is gearing up to challenge the midsize sedans from brands like Hyundai, Honda, and Skoda, all of which target similar premium sedan buyers.

The Skoda Superb, a competitor in the past, is expected to return to the Indian market in 2025 and is likely to be a direct competitor for the Camry. The Camry, however, continues to maintain its dominance in the premium hybrid sedan market, thanks to a lack of direct hybrid rivals in the ₹40-50 lakh bracket.

The Camry Sprint Edition is powered by a 2.5-litre Dynamic Force petrol engine with Toyota's 5th-Gen Hybrid Electric System. This combination delivers a best-in-class mileage of 25.49 kmpl and produces 230 PS of power. The vehicle's sporty touch is evident in its dual-tone styling, matte black alloy wheels, and an exclusive sports kit.

Toyota has ensured the Camry Sprint Edition is equipped with top-notch safety features. It comes with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, adaptive cruise control, lane tracing assist, pre-collision system, nine airbags, a 360-degree camera, ventilated seats, and a wireless charger. Customers can choose from five sporty dual-tone colours for the Camry Sprint Edition.

Bookings for the Toyota Camry Sprint Edition are now open online. As a testament to its confidence in the vehicle's hybrid technology, Toyota is offering an 8-year/1,60,000 km hybrid battery warranty for the Camry Sprint Edition.

In the premium sedan segment, the Camry Sprint Edition is not directly competing with entry-level luxury sedans like the BMW 3 Series Gran Limousine and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Instead, Toyota is targeting younger buyers with the Camry Sprint Edition, offering a blend of luxury, mileage, and sporty design in a hybrid sedan.

With the return of the Skoda Superb in 2025, the competition in the premium hybrid sedan segment is expected to intensify. However, with its superior mileage, sporty design, and advanced safety features, the Toyota Camry Sprint Edition is poised to continue its dominance in the Indian market.
