Law enforcement activities at multiple gatherings

On International Women's Day, March 8, 2025, Stuttgart witnessed a series of unusual incidents during the city's gatherings.

Several assemblies took place throughout the day, with a significant one themed "Demonstration 8th of March" at Schlossplatz. However, the day was not without incident.

A smoke bomb was set off in Theodor-Heuss-StraรŸe during one of the marches, causing a stir among participants. Law enforcement officers had to intervene and prevent around 100 assembly participants from reaching the three provisionally arrested individuals in the courtyard of the New Palace, who were believed to be connected to the smoke bomb incident.

One of the arrested individuals suffered a fainting spell after police measures were completed. Police officers and demo medics attended to the individual before they were taken to a hospital for further treatment.

Elsewhere in the city, a banner was lowered from a building on Willi-Bleicher-StraรŸe with fireworks set off.

Unfortunately, the day was also marked by acts of violence. On arriving at Schlossplatz, a 15-year-old teenager showed the Hitler salute to passersby. After a control, the two passersby were allegedly attacked by several masked participants and sprayed with pepper spray. The officers provisionally arrested the teenager and handed him over to his legal guardians.

In another instance, two passersby displayed a German flag and attempted to cover their faces in Lautenschlager StraรŸe.
