Law enforcement authorities in Germany seek out individuals who may have witnessed a particular event.

On February 23, a disturbing incident occurred on the RE 32 train from Bayreuth to Nuremberg. A 34-year-old German man, described as being tall and heavyset with a drawn-on black wavy beard, black chin-length hair (likely a wig), and wearing white pants with colorful circles and a black jacket, assaulted a train attendant.

The train attendant, a 62-year-old woman of Jordanian nationality, was carrying out her duties when the passenger refused to provide identification after his ticket was scanned. This led to an altercation, during which the man allegedly hit the train attendant's smartphone against her head, causing her to sustain injuries including a scratch on her eyebrow, pain in her left eye, temple, and cheekbone.

The incident took place at a train station, though the specific station was not mentioned. Witnesses with relevant information about the incident are asked to contact the Federal Police in Nuremberg at 0911 205551-0 or via email at [email protected].

The Federal Police Inspectorate Nuremberg, responsible for police safety and criminal prosecution in Deutsche Bahn's facilities, is investigating the incident. The jurisdiction of the Federal Police Inspectorate Nuremberg covers Middle Franconia, North Swabia, northern Upper Bavaria, and the Landkreis Forchheim, which accounts for approximately 23 percent of Bavaria's area. This jurisdiction encompasses 309 train stations and halts, as well as 1823 kilometers of tracks.

Passengers intervened to stop further altercations, and the man exited the train at Hersbruck station. The Federal Police is continuing its investigation and seeking witnesses to provide any additional information that may aid in identifying the aggressor.

For press inquiries, please contact Hubert Grimm, Federal Police Inspectorate Nuremberg, at Bahnhofsplatz 6 - 90443 Nuremberg, or via email at [email protected]. The name of the head of the Federal Police Directorate (Bundespolizeidirektion) in Nuremberg for direct contact with the press office was not available in the provided sources.
