Law Enforcement collaboration at Elmshorn train station: Alleged narcotics trafficker apprehended and detained by Federal and State police forces
In a joint operation by federal and state police, a 23-year-old man of Turkish origin was arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking at Elmshorn train station on August 14, 2025.
The incident unfolded at around 14:35 when the man was stopped in the pedestrian tunnel area. A search revealed ready-to-sell cocaine and cannabis on his person.
Following his arrest, the suspect was taken to Elmshorn police station. The next day, he was brought before an examining judge at Itzehoe district court, where a warrant for his arrest was issued, citing a risk of flight and recidivism.
The Itzehoe public prosecutor's office made the request for the suspect's arrest. As a result, he was remanded to Itzehoe prison, where he is currently under investigation by Elmshorn Criminal Police for drug trafficking under the Narcotics and Consumable Cannabis Act.
It is important to note that a control area has been established around the station, allowing police to temporarily stop, question, and search individuals without cause. This is in accordance with the Weapons Act and state ordinance, which prohibit weapons and knives in public transport.
A low three-digit amount of cash was also seized from the man. No publicly available or verifiable details about any specific person currently detained in Itzehoe prison under investigation for drug trafficking have been released.
