Law enforcement efforts during a demonstration relating to Middle East tensions
In Berlin last night, an unauthorized gathering in relation to the Middle East conflict took place at Rosenthaler Platz and Hackescher Market. Approximately 300 law enforcement officers responded to the situation.
The gathering began at 6 PM and lasted for some time. Despite repeated requests, no clear gathering leader was identified at either location. However, around 100 people moved between Rosenthaler Platz and Hackescher Market during the event.
As the gathering progressed, law enforcement officers had to take action. A total of 94 people were subject to freedom-restricting measures, and 12 individuals were forcibly removed due to their refusal to leave Hackescher Market.
At Hackescher Market, incidents of verbal aggression and insults towards law enforcement officers were reported. Some individuals even showed physical aggression, leading to recorded incidents of assault and resistance against the officers. Criminal, banned slogans were also shouted from the crowd, leading to around 80 people being stopped, contained, and checked.
In addition to these incidents, law enforcement officers initiated 96 criminal investigations. These investigations include suspicion of using symbols of unconstitutional and terrorist organizations, assault and resistance against law enforcement officers, insults, assault, and suspicion of illegal residence.
Approximately 20 people remained at Hackescher Market after the gathering at Rosenthaler Platz. At Rosenthaler StraΓe, all people were asked to leave due to the unauthorized gathering.
