Lübeck Police to Conduct Large-Scale Exercise on September 13, 2025

The Police Directorate Lübeck in Germany will conduct a significant exercise on September 13, 2025, at the Cesar-Klein-School in Ratekau. This exercise aims to further develop the cooperation and strengthen the operational capabilities of police forces.

According to Ulli Fritz Gerlach, the Press Spokesman for the Police Directorate Lübeck, the exercise will involve numerous deployment forces from Lübeck and Ostholstein, as well as special forces from the State Criminal Office and the Rescue Service Holstein.

Residents and passersby are advised to avoid the exercise area, including the Badestrasse and the Preesterkoppel, to ensure a safe and smooth operation. The parking lot of the Cesar-Klein-School will not be available from September 12, 2025, at 6:00 PM.

During the exercise, there will be a significant presence of rescue and police vehicles, and the use of drones may be observed. As part of the fictional scenario, loud noises may occur. The exercise will take place from 08:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

The area around the Cesar-Klein-School will be cordoned off for the exercise starting from September 12, 2025, at 6:00 PM. Access to the Preesterkoppel residential area will be ensured at all times during the exercise.

Ulli Fritz Gerlach, a police officer at the Lübeck Police Directorate, was involved in a public safety campaign for school beginners and also responded to a suspicious object reported by a camper, which turned out not to be dangerous. The goals of the exercise are to enhance training for handling threat scenarios under realistic conditions and to practice rescue and handover of injured persons to the rescue service.
