Law Enforcement Officials in Northern Swabia Investigate Physical Attacks on Authority Personnel
In Augsburg, Germany, on December 19, 2024, a disturbing incident occurred in the city centre. A 33-year-old man allegedly injured a 32-year-old woman in a tram at Fischerplatz.
According to the Bavaria North Police Headquarters, around 4:30 PM, the man blocked the woman's exit from the tram. He then physically assaulted her, causing her to fall and sustain minor injuries. The responding police officers arrived at the scene and conducted a breathalyzer test on the 33-year-old man. The result of the test was over 1.5 per thousand.
The off-duty police officer, who happened to be present, intervened and alerted the authorities. The woman, who was accompanied by her mother on the tram, was able to push past the man and escape unharmed.
The police are now investigating the 33-year-old man for assault on a law enforcement officer, coercion, and bodily harm. It is important to note that these investigations are related to a previous incident on August 28, 2025, at Dresdener Platz.
In that incident, a 32-year-old Polish man was involved. He allegedly threw garbage bins into the street, fled from police, spat at an officer, and is under investigation for bodily harm. A 28-year-old woman is also suspected of trying to hit a police officer and is under investigation for attacking enforcement officers.
