Speeding Crackdown in Borken District Yields Significant Results
Excessive speed and reckless driving are major causes of accidents in the Borken district, as evidenced by a series of speeding violations recorded this week. The Borken Circular Police Department conducted speed checks at eight locations in the district, resulting in the examination of 5,524 vehicles.
The most serious speeding violation inside the built-up area was recorded on Raesfelder Street in Borken, where a driver was clocked at 79 km/h, more than double the permitted speed limit of 50 km/h. A similar incident occurred on Fuisting Street in Ahaus, with a speed of 57 km/h, again exceeding the 30 km/h limit.
Outside the built-up areas, the most severe violations were recorded on Werther Street in Bocholt (112 km/h, permitted is 70 km/h) and Ochtruper Street in Gronau (113 km/h, permitted is 70 km/h).
Approximately eleven percent of the measured drivers were found to be speeding, with fines imposed on 118 drivers and warning fines issued to 516 drivers. However, the identity of the driver who was clocked driving almost double the permitted speed limit of 30 km/h outside the building line at South Circle remains unknown.
The Borken Circular Police Department is taking active measures to combat and prevent traffic accidents caused by excessive speed and reckless driving in the district. These accidents often result in severe consequences, including for innocent bystanders.
