Law enforcement secured a technical training institute after a teacher was harmed, leaving the facility under restricted access.
In the heart of Essen, a shocking incident unfolded at a municipal vocational college on Tuesday morning. The school, which caters to around 1,780 students and offers educational programs in fields such as nutrition, household management, social care, and health care, was the site of an attack.
At approximately 09:30, a teacher was attacked by a 17-year-old male student from Kosovo. The teacher sustained stab wounds in the attack. Initial medical care was provided at the scene, and the teacher was later taken to the hospital for further treatment.
The attacker, who fled the scene after the incident, was later apprehended by police and sustained serious injuries during his arrest. No further information about the attacker or their motives has been released at this time.
Authorities have cordoned off the building, and special units are on the scene investigating the incident. At the time of the report, the school has not yet made a statement regarding the incident.
