Lawless Affairs Unfold on Lake Constance
The picturesque shores of Lake Constance in Germany are currently playing host to the annual Western fair in Friedrichshafen, Baden-Württemberg. This event, considered one of the most important gatherings for Western fans in Europe, attracts over 50,000 visitors and boasts an impressive lineup of exhibitors from 16 nations.
At the heart of the fair are the thrilling riding shows, which require no less than 460 horses and 650 cattle. These spectacular displays of equestrian skill are a highlight of the event, showcasing the beauty and power of the Western lifestyle.
Among the numerous exhibitors, the Truck Bar and the saloon, named "Yellowstone" after the famous Western series, stand out as additional attractions for visitors of the Americana scene. Owned by Dirk Trautmann from Münster, these relaxing areas provide a perfect spot for fairgoers to unwind and soak up the Western atmosphere.
Dirk Trautmann, speaking about the suitability of the location, expressed his belief that the surroundings of Lake Constance are ideal for the Western lifestyle event. He notes that a city like Frankfurt, with its high-rises, would be less suitable for such a fair.
In addition to the animals, the fair has seen the transportation of 700 tons of sand, 100 tons of forest soil, and 40 tons of hay into the halls for the event. These materials help to create the authentic Western environment that has become synonymous with the fair.
The main organizers of the event include Amarillo Productions, led by Franz-Josef Vogt, and the Messe Friedrichshafen management. Adi Wagner plays a significant role in managing the event logistics and grounds, ensuring everything runs smoothly.
The fair gates opened on Wednesday and will close again on Sunday, providing visitors with four days to immerse themselves in the Western lifestyle, from plaid shirts and large belt buckles to the captivating riding shows and the relaxing atmosphere of the Truck Bar and the saloon. Whether you're a seasoned Western fan or simply curious about this unique culture, the Americana Scene Meeting in Friedrichshafen is not to be missed.
