Leadership on British Masters' final day securely held by Matt Fitzpatrick

In the picturesque setting of The Belfry, Matt Fitzpatrick has taken a commanding position at the Betfred British Masters. The English golfer posted a score of 68 on Saturday, carding four birdies and two bogeys, to move one shot clear of Alex Noren.

Noren, meanwhile, put together a bogey-free 65, leaving him in second place, just one shot behind Fitzpatrick.

In the race for the final automatic spot for Europe's Ryder Cup team, Rasmus Hojgaard is making a strong push. Currently sitting at seven under, Hojgaard has two shots to spare with a round to go. If he finishes in a two-way tie for 29th place or better, he will secure the spot ahead of Shane Lowry.

Lowry, who produced a spectacular round of 63 at the Tour Championship, finds himself in a challenging position, but not out of contention.

Matt Wallace, an Englishman, is tied in fifth place after a round of 70. He remains in touch with the leaders and will be hoping for a strong finish on Sunday.

The chasing pack includes Matt Wallace, tied with Swede Simon Forsstrom and Scottish amateur Cameron Adam. Adam, who posted a bogey-free 66, which included six birdies, is comfortably making the cut, reaching three under.

Clitheroe's Marco Penge and Nicolai Hojgaard are tied for third place. Penge produced the round of the day, a bogey-free 63, while Hojgaard scored 67 at the event. Hojgaard is currently tied for 14th place after a round of 69, but if he finishes in a two-way tie with Matt Fitzpatrick, he will secure third place.

Fitzpatrick's performance at The Belfry not only puts him in a strong position for the tournament but also boosts his hopes of being picked for the European Ryder Cup team. The final round promises to be an exciting one, with several contenders vying for the title.
