Legendary Soccer Coach Steve Cherundolo Lists Enchanting 1930s Abode in Los Angeles for an Impressive $5 Million.
Steve Cherundolo, the former coach of LAFC and a revered figure in the soccer community, has announced his decision to return to Germany at the end of the 2025 season. This move was a family decision, as Cherundolo was raised in San Diego.
Cherundolo's Los Angeles residence, a charming cottage in the Little Holmby neighborhood, has been listed for sale. The property, which boasts a secluded and hedged backyard with room for a swimming pool, is priced at approximately $4.7 million. Enzo Ricciardelli and Shen Schulz of the Beverly Hills Brokerage at Sotheby's International Realty hold the listing.
The cottage, originally designed in the early 1930s by architect Percy Parke Lewis, has been remodeled and offers a two-story main house plus a guest suite atop the detached garage, for a combined total of four bedrooms and four baths in roughly 2,800 square feet.
The kitchen in the cottage is updated and features custom cabinetry, marble countertops, an apron sink, a La Cornue range, and a breakfast nook with banquette seating. The primary suite flaunts a private balcony, a walk-in closet, and a dual-vanity bath with a glass-encased shower.
Original beveled windows, polished dark hardwood floors, high ceilings, arched doorways, and decorative millwork can be found throughout the cottage. The two-car garage has been finished as additional living space with lots of built-in storage.
Cherundolo initially started his managerial career in Germany at Hannover's academy system. He made a significant impact in LAFC, becoming the only coach in MLS history to win both the Supporters' Shield and MLS Cup in his first season.
Before taking over for Bob Bradley in MLS, Cherundolo coached LAFC's affiliate in the second-division USL Championship in 2021. His tenure with LAFC will be remembered for his strategic prowess and dedication to the sport.
As for his future, Cherundolo is likely to reside in Hannover, Germany, after stepping down as head coach of the Los Angeles Football Club. His departure from LAFC marks the end of an era for the club and its fans, but his legacy will undoubtedly live on.
Meanwhile, another oceanfront residence in Vail, CO, known as "A Car Collector's Dream Home," is priced at $27,000,000 USD. The Indigo at Vie L'Ven, a different oceanfront residence, is priced at $2,724,800 USD. These properties offer a stark contrast to Cherundolo's Little Holmby cottage but are no less luxurious.
