The Ligue Butagaz Énergie Championship and EHF Champions League Women have kicked off with a bang, showcasing some thrilling matches and surprising results.

In the Ligue Butagaz Énergie Championship, historically low-ranked team Saint-Amand pulled off an impressive win against Dijon, who were previously third in the last European League. Achenheim-Truchtersheim also secured a close victory over Sambre Avesnois by two points (28-26).

Havre, a newly promoted team, put up a strong fight but ultimately lost at home to Nice (22-28). The match marked Havre's return to the elite seven years after their last appearance. Plan-de-Cuques also claimed victory at home against Besançon (33-24).

In the Ligue Butagaz Énergie Championship's opening day, Brest kept pace with a commanding 33-18 win against Toulon, while Metz dominated their match against Chambray, building a comfortable lead of 24-40 by halftime.

Meanwhile, in the EHF Champions League Women, Brest will face Ljubljana on Saturday, with the match scheduled for September 6, 2025. Star players Ana Gros and Anna Vyakhireva will lead Brest in this highly anticipated contest.

It's not just the results that have been captivating; the integration of new recruits into the teams has also been noteworthy. Despite numerous changes to their roster this summer, Metz's newcomers have seamlessly integrated into the collective system established by Emmanuel Mayonnade.

Elsewhere in Île-de-France, Stella Saint-Maur surprised Paris 92 with a 22-21 victory, and Havre faced Paris 92 in a rematch, with Paris 92 suffering another loss (no score provided).

In the Champions League, Metz will enter the competition on Sunday in Esbjerg. With the season off to such an exciting start, fans are eagerly anticipating what the rest of the season has in store.
