Lilo & Stitch Remake Unveils First Complete Trailer, Filled with Adorable Galactic Exploits

In the world of entertainment, excitement is building as we approach the release of the live-action remake of the beloved animated film, Lilo & Stitch. The film, set to hit cinemas on May 23, has been making waves with its talented cast and creative team.

Veteran animator and voice actor, Chris Sanders, is reprising his iconic role as Stitch. Sanders, who originally brought the mischievous alien-dog fugitive to life, will once again lend his voice to the character in the live-action adaptation.

The film also introduces a new Lilo, played by Maia Kealoha, and a new Nani, portrayed by Sydney Agudong. Courtney B. Vance takes on the role of Agent Cobra Bubbles, a character originally voiced by Ving Rhames in the animated series.

Tia Carrere, known for her role as Lilo's older sister, returns to the Lilo & Stitch franchise, but this time as a different character. The cast is rounded out by the addition of Billy Magnussen and Zach Galifianakis as Pleakley and Jumba, respectively, who will be portrayed as humans while on planet in disguise.

Hannah Waddingham also joins the cast as the Grand Councilwoman. The trailer for the live-action Lilo & Stitch showcases a heartfelt message about family (ohana) and blends tenderness with sci-fi action.

Dean Fleischer Camp, director of the acclaimed short film Marcel the Shell with Shoes On, is at the helm of this eagerly anticipated project. The film recreates some iconic scenes from the animated film and introduces new scenes between Lilo and Stitch, including a dog booty-scootch moment and a scene where Stitch thinks he is a real boy.

The live-action Lilo & Stitch was released in German cinemas on September 5, 2025, and became available for streaming on Disney+ in Germany on September 3, 2025. The teaser trailer for the film mirrors the marketing campaign of the original animated film, promising a faithful adaptation while teasing a focus on the film's core theme of found family. A tease of Agent Cobra Bubbles is shown at the end of the trailer.

The live-action Lilo & Stitch is not a shot-for-shot remake; it aims to capture the spirit of the original while offering a fresh take on the story of Lilo, a lonely Hawaiian girl, and her alien-dog fugitive companion.
