Lincoln Navigator 2025 Fails Assessment by Consumer Reports: Unusual Steering Wheel Design Leaves Driver with an Uncomfortable Sensation. Parking maneuvers resemble turning a book: Horizontal, Vertical, Horizontal.
The 2025 Lincoln Navigator, a high-end counterpart to the Ford Expedition, has been reviewed by Consumer Reports. However, the luxury SUV falls short of its promise, according to the organisation.
Priced starting at around $100,000, the Navigator offers a spacious interior with generous room for all three rows and strong cargo capacity in both standard and extended wheelbase versions. The SUV is available in three trims: Reserve, Reserve with Jet Appearance, and the lavish Black Label.
The Navigator was driven for the review, equipped with a 440-hp, 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine, a 10-speed automatic transmission, and four-wheel drive. Despite its impressive power, the Navigator struggles on city roads due to its massive size, making it more suited for long trips.
The interior of the Navigator is adorned with premium features such as a 48-inch dash display, massaging seats, a Revel stereo system, and multisensory "relaxation" modes. However, Consumer Reports found the oblong steering wheel and frustrating controls to be drawbacks.
The model driven for the review had a total cost of $121,190, including options, destination fee, and paint color. This high price tag, combined with excessive feature upgrades, led Consumer Reports to conclude that the 2025 Navigator does not live up to its luxury promise.
Consumer Reports won't be buying a Navigator for its test fleet and suggests looking at its tested Ford Expedition review instead. The organisation's final recommendation is that buyers who prioritise style and prestige over value may find the Navigator appealing, but it is not recommended as a smart buy.
The 2025 Lincoln Navigator is produced by Ford Motor Company at the Louisville Assembly Plant in Louisville, Kentucky. With a fuel economy of approximately 17 mpg combined, the Navigator offers a decent amount of cargo space, making it a suitable choice for those in need of maximum size, comfort, and tech gadgetry in a Lincoln-branded package. However, potential buyers should carefully consider the high price tag and questionable value before making a decision.
